June 5, 2009 - MILWAUKEE - The Catholic Community Foundation is again pleased to announce the awarding of grants for our health care priority to Milwaukee organizations that provide health care services to the medically indigent and to organizations within Southeastern Wisconsin that support the other priorities of the Foundation. "In these difficult economic times, we are grateful to be able to continue to assist many of the organizations/programs that provide quality health care services to so many in need, as well as to other organizations in need that fit our other priorities," said P. Michael Mahoney, Chairman of the Board.
The Catholic Community Foundation, which began operation on July 1, 2001, funds organizations and causes consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church of Southeastern Wisconsin.
Adult Day Services and Resource Center -
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee - $15,000
The grant will help to support the Adult Day Services and In-Home Support Program.
Adult Learning Center - $10,000
The grant will assist nurses that provide primary health care, health based counseling, prevention/wellness education and a connection to health care services available in the community.
AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin - $10,000
The grant will help support medical care and treatment of indigent persons living with HIV/AIDS in Milwaukee.
Angel of Hope Clinic - $10,000
The grant will assist in supporting the expenses of this clinic, located at the Hope House shelter.
CORE/El Centro - $10,000
This grant will assist in supporting the Integrative Health Program.
House of Peace - $10,000
This grant will help support the House of Peace Community Nursing Center.
Madre Angela Dental Clinic - $15,000
This grant will assist in supporting the Urgent Care Program that provides emergency services to those who are homeless or uninsured.
Medical College of Wisconsin Saturday Clinic for the Uninsured - $10,000
This grant will help support the operations of the clinic, providing free, high quality, primary care to uninsured clients.
Near South Side Catholic Schools Association - $15,000
This grant will help fund a school nurse for four schools on the near south side - St. Adalbert, Prince of Peace/Principe de Paz, St. Rafael the Archangel and Holy Wisdom Academy.
Penfield's Children Center - $10,000
This grant will help support the Special Care Nursery.
Philippine Cultural and Civic Center Foundation, Inc. Free Medical Clinic - $10,000
This grant will help fund services for those who would otherwise not be able to afford care.
Rosalie Manor Family and Community Services - $11,000
This grant will help provide support for the Supporting Teen Families Program.
St. Ben's Clinic at the Cathedral Center - $10,000
This grant will help with nursing/medical services at the center for homeless women and children.
St. Joseph Foundation Baby Safe Haven Program - $10,000
This grant will help provide medical care to abandoned infants.
S.E.T. Ministry, Inc. - $11,250
This grant will help support the Family Empowerment Program.
Sixteenth Street Community Health Center - $10,000
This grant will help support their Bilingual Pediatric Special Needs Case Management Project.
In addition, The Catholic Community Foundation also awarded in this grant cycle the following non-health care related grant:
Archdiocese of Milwaukee - $18,215
This grant was awarded to provide assistance for the needs of retired priests.
The following four grants were awarded to provide scholarship support to students from Racine area schools:
Alverno College - $2,000
This grant will assist student(s) from Washington Park High School and Walden III Middle/High School.
Marquette University - $4,000
This grant will assist student(s) from J.I. Case High School and William Horlick High School.
St. Catherine High School, Racine - $3,000
This grant will assist student(s) attending a Catholic college or university in Milwaukee.
John Paul II Academy, Racine - $6,000
This grant will assist student(s) attending the grade school and those planning on attending St. Catherine High School, Racine.
