The Catholic Community Foundation Announces Grant Recipients

February 11, 2004 – Milwaukee, WI. The Catholic Community Foundation recently awarded grants to the following organizations throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee:

All Saints Catholic Church, Milwaukee, WI - $2,500
This grant will fund the general operating expenses for the All Saints After-School Program.

Catholic Urban Academies, Milwaukee, WI - $5,000
The funds from this grant will support the general operating expenses for the Starlight Program, an after-school program where students develop knowledge and life skills to build a successful future.

CommonGround Ministry, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $10,000
This grant will provide support to people infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through the ministry at Elena's House, a residential facility.

Franciscan Peacemakers, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $10,000
This grant will support the Women & Children Project, including First Steps Program, supporting long-term recovery efforts for women engaged in prostitution and substance abuse in the central city of Milwaukee.

Jail Chaplaincy of Kenosha County, Inc., Kenosha, WI - $5,000
Funds from this grant will be used for general operating expenses of the Kenosha County Detention Jail Ministry Project, in order for all inmates to have the opportunity to practice their religion, have access to bibles and other religious materials, bible study and general education.

Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI - $15,000
This grant will provide a small stipend for 25 Catholic school elementary teachers to participate in the 2004 Summer Institute in Christian Doctrine. The Summer Institute enhances the approaches used by Catholic elementary school teachers to communicate Christian values and teachings to their students.

Repairers of the Breach, Milwaukee, WI - $10,000
This grant will provide general program support to help sustain the infrastructure of the Tony Lee Sanctuary Center, Milwaukee's only daytime homeless shelter.

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $5,000
This grant will help fund the Pastoral Ministry Program/Instrument of Peace Ministry Program which supports the St. Ann Center ministry of community based health, wellness and educational services for children, disabled adults and frail elderly.

St. Anne Catholic Church, Pleasant Prairie, WI - $7,500
This grant will assist in securing the equipment needed for their program that serves individuals in the surrounding areas with dual disabilities and provides support to their families.

St. Mary Springs High School, Fond du Lac, WI - $10,000
This grant will fund part of a comprehensive marketing/recruitment campaign designed to increase enrollment. The marketing effort is a core strategy in attracting new prospective students from outlying areas, build awareness of the school and its programs, and begin to build a brand for St. Mary Springs High School in the Fond du Lac area.

Unified Catholic Parish Schools of Beaver Dam, Beaver Dam, WI - $6,000
This grant will enable their Catholic school primary and secondary elementary teachers and counselor to participate in a conference for Students-at-Risk hosted by the Catholic-based Marion College in Fond du Lac.
