May 29, 2003 – Milwaukee, WI. The Catholic Community Foundation has awarded grants from the St. Anthony Fund to 14 Milwaukee organizations that provide health care services to the medically indigent. The Catholic Community Foundation, which began operation on July 1, 2001, funds organizations and causes in line with the mission of the Catholic Church of southeastern Wisconsin.
The Benedict Center - Women's Harm Reduction Program - $5,000
The Women's Harm Reduction Program assists women offenders in their efforts to construct responsible, healthy, drug-free lives for themselves and their children.
Catholic Charities - Kids and Family Network School/Community Nurses - $12,000
The Kids and Family Network was established to secure basic health care for school-aged children enrolled in four near south side Catholic schools.
Centro Primo - $10,000
Centro Primo provides low-income women access to breast healthcare education and mammography services.
The Guest House AODA Clinic - $10,000
The Guest House is an anti-homelessness agency that offers men a safe, welcoming residential space and services to enhance recovery from homelessness.
House of Peace Community Nursing Center, UWM - $14,000
The House of Peace Community Nursing Center at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee provides health care services to Milwaukee's poor and marginalized residents.
Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc. Neighborhood Outreach - $8,000
The Interfaith Older Adult Programs service approximately 3,500 Hispanic elders.
Marquette University College of Nursing - $10,000
Marquette University's College of Nursing provides individuals in the central city with direct access to nursing services.
Medical College of Wisconsin, Family House Assessment and Referral Clinic - $5,000
The Family House Referral and Assessment Clinic provides primary healthcare, assessment and referral services to medically underserved adolescent and adult patients living in the heart of Milwaukee.
Rosalie Manor - $10,000
Rosalie Manor Community & Family Services has been providing supportive services to families since 1908. Beginning as a residence for single pregnant women, the organization has evolved into a comprehensive social service agency. Their mission is to reduce the rates of child abuse, child neglect and teen pregnancy.
S.E.T. Ministry - $10,000
S.E.T. Ministry provides delivery of holistic health and human services to Milwaukee individuals and families living in poverty.
STD Specialties Clinic - $20,000
The STD Specialties Clinic has a twenty-year history of providing health care services with an emphasis on selected infectious diseases, including HIV, to the disenfranchised and indigent populations of metropolitan Milwaukee.
St. Francis Foundation - Angel of Hope Clinic - $10,000
The Angel of Hope Clinic, located at the Hope House shelter, provides basic health care services to poor and homeless people on Milwaukee's near south side.
St. Francis Foundation - Parish Nurse Program - $5,000
The Parish Nurse Program is an active expression of the health care mission of St. Francis Hospital, serving nine parishes on Milwaukee's near and mid south side.
St. Joseph Regional Medical Center - "Stay on Your Feet" Fall Prevention Program - $5,000
The "Stay on Your Feet" Exercise and Fall Prevention program was created by the Physical Medicine Department at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and S.E.T. Ministry to provide senior citizens living in low-income housing facilities regular access to exercise programs that will decrease the amount of falls they experience.
St. Mary's Foundation - Adult Learning Center Health Support Project - $10,000
This grant will allow for a salary increase to fund the parish nurse for 530 hours. This will allow the nurse to offer health counseling and health education programs at the Adult Learning Center.
St. Mary's Foundation - Madre Angela Dental Clinic - $10,000
The Madre Angela Dental Clinic provides free dental and hygiene services to those who are homeless and in extreme poverty.
St. Mary's Foundation - St. Ben's Clinic - $12,000
St. Ben's Clinic for the Homeless will operate from the Cathedral Center and will provide health assessments, brief treatment and linkages to appropriate medical resources for homeless women.
